SEEDS, ENVIRONMENT, GROWTH (PART 1)
Psalms 1:3
“And he shall be like a
tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in his
season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”
The way there are necessary factors for the
germination of a viable seed is the same way certain conditions necessary for
your growth, are to be present when seeds are sown in you.
When you plant some seeds, in certain weeks
and months, you expect a sprout right? But when you discover that no form of
growth is taking place, you begin to wonder if the seeds were bad, or you did
not nurture it well, probably the sunlight is not enough and all.
For so many years different seeds have been
sown into your life. Whether they were good seeds or bad seeds. These seeds are
being sown by you, your environment i.e family, educational institutions,
religious institutions, and so on. And, seeds are still being sown into your
life. Whether by a conscious effort or your quest for knowledge or happiness.
Your experiences are a proof them being sown.
You can relate to that moment when you take
a course or class, probably a personal development one, with the hope that there
would be a major shift in your life and months after, you are back to where you
started. You then begin to wonder if you've not wasted your time, energy and resources.
Your human response to the situation, at that moment is to automatically put a blame
on someone or something, you really don't want to be held responsible.
Times like that, did you ever sit back to examine
the "environment" i.e where the seeds were planted?
Now, let's briefly examine what our environment is in this context. Out of
the so many dictionary meaning, the two that struck the most are:
•
The surroundings of, and influences on, a particular item of interest.
•
All the elements that affects a system's output or its input.
YOU are your environment. The people around
you are your environment. Now, you should begin to wonder if you are a good
environment to yourself, and if the people and conditions around you serve as a
good environment.
A GOOD environment is one that is fertile. And that starts with YOU.
Also, what makes up YOU is your mind.
No matter how viable a seed is, if it is sown in an infertile soil, it will not
grow. Even if you irrigate consistently and there's adequate sunlight, the growth
has already been tampered with by the infertility of the soil.
I know some people would have been
expecting to see something that neglects them and focuses on others like, family
and all as the very first point. But, YOUR
GROWTH STARTS WITH YOU. Before any other factor can be attributed to your growth,
you must have a fertile mind. A mind that is not pessimistic and is open to ideas
and the capacity to growth.
For you to grow, you must be ready to grow
and, know that you have a chance.
